Is a solar system a fire risk?

Is it true that a solar system makes firefighting more difficult in the event of a fire? I recently heard that a main switch should be installed on the outside of the house to make the work easier for the fire department in an emergency.

I have also seen this in a fire department documentary. Apart from the power issue (main switch), access to a burning attic is difficult. Since the roofs of single-family houses are rarely completely covered with solar panels, this is not so problematic here. Perhaps you should contact the local fire department to find a good compromise between solar energy use and fire protection.

As part of the commissioning of my last photovoltaic system on a carport, I invited the [FW]. It was explained that the [FW] has current guidelines for firefighting with photovoltaic systems, which do not require additional measures.

Clearly, there is a danger there :) The solar systems are not thrown onto the hazardous waste dump for nothing; it is even life-threatening

This information is new to me. It is good that there are fire department guidelines for solar systems, I understand that. I think such a network disconnect switch is the right solution and it must be activated immediately in case of a fire.

It is true that firefighting efforts are more difficult with a solar system. Therefore, the fire department must be contacted before installing a solar system. I think that is good.
