Hello!
My parents have a plot of land of about 2000 sqm and we had planned to build on it. According to plans from the building authority, half of the plot is designated as building land (the half on which my parents' house also stands). Nevertheless, there is enough space for a second house. When my parents bought the house about 2 years ago, they were told by the previous owner that he had fully developed the plot a few years ago (I don’t know if that’s the right term, but he paid a lot of money for it). When I called the building authority a few days ago, I was told that it is not possible to build on the plot, we would only be allowed to extend the existing building. Can that really be? In order to still be within the zoning area, we would have to build between my parents’ house and the street (the house is set back). We would still keep enough distance from the street. We would also use my parents’ driveway and not build a new one. The lady from the building authority said that my parents’ house would not be allowed to move into a "second row"??? We have an appointment at the building authority next week and I would like to hear a few other opinions beforehand so I can argue a bit, if that even makes sense. I hope I have written somewhat logically and understandably. Of course, I would answer any further questions. ;-) Many thanks in advance for the answers!
