Hello,
there are two problems in my attic: rather high or low temperatures and mice.
The roof structure: roof tiles - battens - Delta foil - 16 cm rafters spaced 55...56 cm apart.
The attic floor: 24 mm chipboard - foil - 16 cm wooden beams - 16 cm Rockwool insulation wedges - foil - battens - wooden panels.
It is not possible to stand upright in the attic.
Since it is very warm in the attic in summer and very cold in winter, I wanted to install minimal insulation between the rafters.
Actually, only the many stored items in the attic should be less exposed to heat/cold.
On one side of my house there is an about 50 cm wide rain gutter, into which roof tiles and Delta foil overlap by a few centimeters.
The work was not done very neatly, so now little crawling creatures can partially enter the attic between the rain gutter and the roof/Delta foil.
At the moment everyone seems to be on vacation, but it is not winter yet
The more I inform myself about the insulation, the more questions arise:
- do I have to leave a gap between the insulation and the Delta foil
- with which material should I install the insulation (wood fiber - hemp - Styrofoam - glass/stone wool)
- are boards or rolled material easier to work with
- what is the purpose of the aluminum foil in some materials
- which material does not require an additional foil (vapor barrier)
- is 40 mm of material sufficient (the rafters are 16 cm, but I would like to keep some space between the rafters)
Perhaps someone can give me some tips.
