Hi,

we are currently building a house, single-family house, timber frame construction, visible ceiling beams made of KVH 10x26 cm, above them a 27mm tongue-and-groove boarding visible from below.

Now it’s about the floor structure on the upper floor, planned is a 4 cm thick stone wool insulation (should be Floorrock) and on top an 8 cm thick rigid foam/Styrofoam insulation, underfloor heating and 6.5 cm screed.
I am a bit skeptical about the rigid foam/Styrofoam insulation regarding sound insulation, since it is a very light material and should only serve as height compensation.
Would a heavier additional stone wool insulation, wood fiber insulation or Styrodur/extruded rigid foam possibly be better?

Attached is a rough drawing of the ceiling beams and the structure.

Best regards
