Insulation material for the facade?

We are currently puzzling over the topic of material for facade insulation. The exterior walls of our house consist of 240mm expanded clay, and the west side was additionally "pimped" in the 70s with "nice" asbestos facade panels, underneath which 30-40mm of glass wool was stuffed. So the structure is roughly interior plaster -> 240mm expanded clay -> exterior plaster -> 30-40mm battens + glass wool -> facade cladding. The facade on the north and south sides was not clad. I have already received an offer from a company that would use EPS 120mm 035 for the area of about 130m2. But then the question arises for me as to which material is best to build on. EPS is probably more of a plastic and can be classified as similar to Styrofoam. I have also heard good things about wood fiber mats. I would like to learn which materials your houses have been wrapped in and why.

EPS because it costs half as much and, contrary to all "natural" fibers, is significantly more weather-resistant, e.g. not susceptible to moisture. Ask for EPS 032, it is actually common on the market and only slightly more expensive, but you can probably save 2 cm of insulation thickness (which saves again).

There is a report from the Frauenhofer Institute that Styrofoam facade insulation is no longer hazardous waste, but recyclable. Mineral wool is more expensive and as far as I know the production is not very environmentally friendly.

Sure EPS... best price-performance ratio, weather-resistant, eternally durable (if processed correctly, but that applies to most things...).

Really? Just because everyone is doing it?

Which facade cladding is supposed to go in front of the [WDVS] afterwards?
Wood fiber insulation boards are vapor permeable with good soundproofing and
thermal insulation properties (also summer heat protection).
Just get a comparative offer including cladding
(wood? slate? plaster?). The difference between the overall systems
could thus become considerably smaller (depending on the facade cladding).
I like wood. Putting more and more petroleum-based plastics into circulation
can't be the solution - can it?
Own work on curtain facade with wood fiber insulation board and larch
(overlapping or tongue-and-groove cladding quite easy).

Of course, have all variants checked by an independent expert
regarding efficiency, dew point, etc.

We have 60mm wood fiber boards on the outside, but our house is also completely made of wood. I just like the sense of space, didn’t want plastic foil around my house, and wanted to build as sustainably as possible. That’s how it looks:
