Hello, I want to better protect our bedroom on the ground floor from noise coming from the upper floor and insulate the ceiling and cover it with plasterboard/gypsum fiberboard. We have visible ceiling beams, with a height of 24 cm that I could insulate, the whole thing should then be covered with plasterboard or gypsum fiberboards (the latter probably provide more sound insulation due to the higher weight?). Now the question is, which insulation would be best suited for this? Regular stone wool/glass wool as a compression fleece? Full 24 cm or only partially filled with 22 cm, for example? Who can advise? It’s only 12 sqm area, I have already tried to contact the house planner but he doesn’t call back, the 12 sqm is probably too small for him ;) It’s really annoying when the child just coughs upstairs in the kids’ room and you hear it downstairs… I don’t even want to think about what kind of noises might arise later ;) By the way, it was built in 2013, so not an old building

You can take many, some things are a matter of belief. I once did my own research and came across Klemmfilz from Isover. In the end, I gave the job to the construction company and lo and behold, they installed Klemmfilz from Isover. However, it is mainly intended for thermal insulation. I don't know if there are better products for acoustic insulation. To get other preconceived! opinions, you can also ask at the building materials store. They do want to sell you their own product, but at least then you have some alternatives.

Hi,

did you have it done afterward, was there a noticeable difference? I found something from Rockwool, a special acoustic stone wool insulation... let's see what something like that costs, surely no one will have it in stock =/

The house is still being built, so I can't say anything about the difference yet, but it will definitely make a noticeable difference. It also depends on the strength/thickness. Rockwool is okay too, I think, I would get different offers from dealers and also check prices online, then you can negotiate a bit with the dealer.
