hello first of all,
i bought a little house built in 1957 and now want to insulate the upper floor ceiling. now i have partly removed the floorboards and it looks like this: below the beams are sauerkraut boards, which are plastered on the room side, the infill is empty, no slag or anything else. however, many screw tips are visible, probably screwed from below, why i don’t know. actually i wanted to line the infill with a vapor retarder foil, not a barrier, then put in 160 clamp wool (mineral wool), above that 2 cm of air, then an underlay membrane, and on top of that the boards again with an airy distance of about 5-10 mm. since the effort to cut off all the screws is enormous, i need an alternative. i thought of putting a vapor retarder on the floorboards, clamp wool on top, and on the way to the chimney (chimney sweep), place wooden battens between two layers of clamp wool so that i can create a board path to the chimney. is this doable?? financially i’m fully stretched, so no blown insulation. i hope someone has a tip for me
