Hello everyone,

the summer is getting to us, our guest room and the bedroom in the attic face southwest. Even the best insulation eventually gets cooked through.

Therefore, I am considering retrofitting an air conditioning unit, a split system, for the two rooms.

Both rooms are under 20 sqm. I have seen that there are split systems that can supply 2 indoor units.
Has anyone had experience with this?
How loud do these units get? Our neighbor has his carport on that side, but I don’t want to blast the whole neighborhood.

The outdoor unit could go on the gable, but I would prefer to place it on the ground, is that practicable?

Nothing unusual. There are also split units that can supply 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 rooms.

Noise levels can always be found in the technical data; there are significant differences not only between manufacturers but also depending on performance.

Units on the floor (with a suitable base and on rubber feet) are also absolutely common.

In principle, the distance between the outdoor and indoor unit should be as short as possible.

On the one hand, long lines cause losses, and on the other hand, long lines (usually +5m) need to be filled with additional refrigerant, which is currently a real cost factor. Due to legal production restrictions, the refrigerant has become extremely expensive, which you notice in the startup invoice.

By the way, placing the outdoor unit in the shade is recommended, as it saves electricity overall.

Personally, I can recommend Mitsubishi, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and Daikin. The Daikin runs very quietly.
