Hello everyone,

The heat pump has been purchased (thanks for your great advice!) and now I have received the details about the safety zone and am currently pondering the installation location.

The ideal installation location is near a ventilation grille with a basement window to the heating room. If I unscrew the window handle at the window, the installer would install it like that. Ventilation is less of an issue (basements are rarely ventilated anyway, if necessary ventilable through the door to the garage).
However, I still have concerns whether the fluid might penetrate in case of a leak (22-year-old window, possibly not so tight).
Now I have a drainage in front of the window. If I cut it at a height so that the opening is below the window, the gas should seep downwards in case of an emergency and not enter the house, right?

Picture of my desired installation location:

Picture of ventilation shaft / drainage:

Looking forward to your feedback.

Best regards

With us, the factory customer service refused to put the heating into operation at a light well that was 80cm away. A pane must be installed (still not done). Unscrewing the handle was not enough for him. Mega annoying to have to solve something like this afterwards, so it's good that you are now thinking about it. We had the general contractor responsible here, and he did not particularly shine with foresight.

If the shaft is supposed to be used for ventilation, then the heat pump cannot be placed there. Otherwise, put Plexiglas on top and seal it well. What kind of refrigerant does the heat pump have inside?

Thank you very much for your help. Oh man, then it will be the plexiglass version. Really stupid question: I would now buy it online to measure and then select 0.5 cm less on each side than measured (for the sealing compound). Does that fit or do I need to consider anything else? I would also have to seal the hole in the wall for the dryer (but there isn't one). The refrigerant is R290.

You don't need to seal that, because the refrigerant wants to go downwards. The refrigerant is lighter than air. I would install a fan there, in case you want to get the moist air from drying clothes out.

I'm going to be annoying now - I wouldn't put her in front of the shaft, there are plenty of house walls where she can go...
