Although this is often unavoidable, the removal damages are not yet present at that point. The professional has tools for that. I already have reasons for my advice (and have also stated them).

A different question regarding flush installation. An energy consultant said I should let the windows protrude one cm from the facade to compensate for the adhesive thickness under the insulation boards, so that the insulation board fits properly against the window frame. Is that common practice? If I have the windows installed exactly flush with the outer surface, otherwise there will likely be an air gap between the insulation board and the window frame.

I know it as being installed flush with the exterior wall and then the insulation boards extend over the window frame. This way there is no air gap or anything similar there.

If, for example, foam is used for bonding, the adhesive thickness is 1 to at most 2 mm.
Besides,

or also possible over the roller shutter rail.
