Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the installation of an ETICS on our facade. I have already plastered our entire house from the inside. I have also installed internal insulation and am very satisfied with the execution. Now I am considering applying the ETICS (Neopor) to our house myself. Now the question is, can I work on it section by section? I was thinking of the following:

Glue insulation boards (the house is 5 meters high and 17 meters long) over the entire height and about 5 meters in width. Then reinforce the area and then proceed with the next section...

For the top coat, I would get professionals to plaster the entire surface in one go.

Do you think this can be done this way?

If you follow the processing guidelines, it should be doable. However, reinforcement must be done, as the Neopor is sensitive to UV. Don’t forget the hammer anchors! Whether a professional company will plaster it for you is another question. They probably won’t want to provide a warranty. We had really bad luck with the company that did the insulation (also Neopor) and suddenly disappeared without a trace in the middle of the job. No other company wanted to complete the work! So if you start by yourself, you should also be able to finish it yourself. Instead of plaster, for simplicity’s sake, you could also apply flexible (cure hard) thin cladding elements on the reinforcement layer. We will definitely do this, as the plaster job looks extremely bad. These do not need to be grouted, and because they are so thin, after gluing you can simply smooth the adhesive in the joints with a brush and that’s it. Corresponding products can be found for example at Elastolith (Hornbach). They look like bricks, weigh only about 7kg/sqm, and are quite cost-effective.

I also think that will work. You probably want to do it that way because of the [scaffolding]? I would get informed about plastering beforehand. It would of course be quite unfortunate if you then have problems with a company there. But why bring a company if you have already plastered everything inside yourself?
