Hello, friends of good mood!

When I read through the topics here, I wonder why no one comes to the most economical solution at all:
-- Instead of saving the nice money with the expensive and environmentally harmful insulation materials, one could simply heat with coal... ... .

Let's see how far you get with that mathematically: The insulation for a normal single-family house is about 20,000 EUR.
According to the propaganda from the craftsmen's brochures, "it usually pays off" after about 16 years... , because:
-- You then have lower heating costs, but still some. Let's assume half.

How much coal can you order with the money that the insulation alone costs?
-- As experience shows, for a single-family house, depending on the construction method, 500-1000 EUR per year is needed.
-- That makes 20 to 40 years during which you could heat with coal, with the same money the craftsman carries out of the house for the great insulation within a few weeks.

And it’s not like you wouldn’t need to heat anymore with insulation, you save a few %... , but fuel still needs to be ordered.
-- That extends the cheap coal heating period to 50 or more years.

Bet that by then the insulation has fallen off the wall again? Maybe the house isn’t even standing anymore because it was torn down 10 years after the insulation measure due to mold growth.

What do you think about that?

I don't want to speak ill of the CDU's wonderful job machine: Lots of craftsmen drive fancy cars in Germany because of general insulation. That's really great.

The calculation is not quite that simple. Who says that in x years you will still be allowed to heat with coal? Plus the chimney sweep twice a year, all the work, the dirt, etc.... on the other hand, the disposal of the insulation, etc....

Whether and when something pays off is a matter of considering the desired factors.

But I can say for myself that in the end my house will produce not a gram of CO2 in the future. And now?

My insulation doesn't cost 20,000 euros - I would roughly say not even 10,000 euros.

I don't think much of the insulation craze either, and it's exaggerated in the new construction sector as well, but I don't just want to live in an insulated house because of the heating, but also as a comfort factor, so that the place doesn't cool down so quickly. And of course also because of lower energy costs - then I have the money for other things. In addition, you have to take the inflation rate into account, which helps quite a bit with the investments ;)

We heated with coal from 1989 to 1997. It was cozy to watch the little fire. But it easily took half an hour to empty, prepare, and light it, and then you had to regularly add more coal.

Let's calculate with 1 hour per day for heating. Since there is no heating in summer, let's assume only 250 heating days.
To have the same free time, I would have to work 250 hours less per year.
The average hourly wage in Germany is just over €15. That means you would earn €3,750 less per year.
That makes €75,000 in 20 years.
With that amount, I can insulate a lot and also get a modern heating system without manual work.

The way you imagine building a house will no longer be approved. Done, that's that!

To be honest, I also don't understand what is supposed to be environmentally friendly about coal production and combustion?!

There is no need to fill a summer slump now!
