Hello everyone,

we have 5 garages together with our neighbors, they have a kind of attic that we cannot access because the roof was placed on top of the prefabricated garages.
We would now like to use the space above the garage as a storage room and are looking for a way to build some sort of hatch or something like that from the ceiling of the garage.
Is that so simple or is there something to consider?

From a static point of view, this is not a problem. Since the precast ceilings of such garages usually have more steel reinforcements than concrete. Only cutting out the hatch will turn out to be tedious, but it should still be finished on a Saturday. If possible, the hole should be cut from above so that debris doesn't fall on your head. Just remove a few roof tiles and crawl through the rafters. Make a hole of 70x140 cm, then you can install a proper floor ladder (attic ladder).
