Install awning on the exterior facade

Hello everyone,

we want to attach an awning with the dimensions 4x3m to our timber frame house. Dead weight 80kg. We have a wooden beam available with a length of 4.50m, a 14/24 beam, which internally supports the rafters of the intermediate ceiling. Between the attachment and the awning there would be wood fiber insulation with a thickness of 8cm.

For the attachment, I would use adapter plates in conjunction with Power Fast screws from a major manufacturer of anchor technology.

Would this work structurally reasonably well?

Ask a structural engineer or awning manufacturer. 4x3m already generate a certain lever force.

Is there plaster on the wood fiber insulation boards? A proper connection must be made there, otherwise there will be problems (moisture penetrates, house suffers major! damage)

We have an awning on wooden rafters. In one spot, the wood is already damaged and the construction needs to be reinforced.

Ask a structural engineer or the house company,
an awning is not only loaded with its own weight but when extended much more with the wind load.
And if the awning starts to swing in strong wind, it can be really stressful for the house

I had that on my house before........didn't enjoy it. Either too early or too late.......I definitely wouldn't rely on it alone.
