Hello everyone,

we noticed that the inlet/outlet of the flat roof is about 12 cm close to the parapet. According to the flat roof guideline, it has to be at least 30 cm. The roofer pointed this out, the architect is downplaying it.

What to do? I tend to inform the architect in writing that he must comply with the guideline and will be liable for damages in case of damage. What happens if the drain leaks due to the planning error only after 10 years?

What do you think?

Thank you very much for a tip and best regards
Alex

Can't it simply be corrected accordingly during execution?

The roof is finished and the pipes run through the exterior wall. A correction is therefore no longer really possible. At most, one could drill the drainage at a completely different location, which would of course be quite an effort. It is also the only drainage of the entire roof (besides the emergency drain, of course) and the sloped insulation (which was just approved by the architect) directs the water exactly to this point.

Did the roofer inform you so late or are you just responding so late?

The topic only came up during the inspection by the roofer, I was not aware of the issue and assumed the architect had some experience.... The architect has now also given the roofer a "go" via email ....
