The standards have been adapted in recent years. Constructions with structural wood protection measures should be preferred over those where preventive protective measures with wood preservatives are required.
That means, not with chemical treatments, but sensible construction where problems do not arise in the first place. For fungal infestation, wood moisture of >20% is required; with proper ventilation, the moisture should not occur at all. Insects also do not like drafts.
For roofing work, only the so-called S10 roof battens should be used (e.g., 40/60 S10). These are roof battens marked with red paint on the side of the cut. They are sorted according to load-bearing capacity (number and size of knots) and are additionally technically dried.
