Hello everyone,

The idea is to manufacture the thermal floor slab without a floor structure and to leave it as exposed concrete. How does it behave regarding impact sound insulation, or could impact sound insulation be incorporated into the concrete? The background is that I am not a fan of screed, either dry or wet laid. The latter is anyway out of the question since it is being built in timber construction.

Thanks and regards

Why don’t you make a beam layer on the concrete floor, insulation in between, and a plank floor on top?

I had also considered it but found no reasonable answer regarding the placement of [Hanf-Leichtlehmschüttung].

At the time, I had cork loose fill with floorboards directly above. These are still in place after 30 years, and that was one of the better ideas back then – would do it again anytime.

I take your word for it and am totally enthusiastic about it. Only, I am worried that a.) there is still residual moisture in the floor slab (wintering out doesn't work due to the schedule) and b.) the manufacturer states that the floor will settle by five centimeters over time. Don't want everything to end up crooked and uneven later.

But with this wooden version, you could most easily make adjustments; if necessary, live with OSB boards for a while. A prefabricated concrete floor would definitely develop significant cracks.
