IKEA PAX wardrobe alternative and assembly

Hello dear people,

we have a very old Pax wardrobe and after the new construction have devoted ourselves to other topics. Now there is money again and we want to buy a new modern Pax wardrobe for our bedroom.

Is there an alternative to Pax in that style?

Does anyone have experience with Ikea's assembly service? I really have little desire to handle the carcass and sliding doors...

Just set up 4 Pax. Not that complicated, there isn’t much to it. But I had it delivered directly to the rooms ... indeed, I wouldn’t have wanted to lug around the 300-400kg.

Just wrote about this in the other thread. We had it delivered, but assembling it took me two days (even with the sliding doors). Putting the sliding doors together takes quite a long time. Many individual parts, many screws, quite heavy and you have to be a bit careful, don’t want to scratch it right away. I also had to disassemble the door rails again, the instructions were apparently not good enough for me (which doors go in front, which in the back). Would use the assembly service next time. Price-wise (1500) and in terms of the many options compared to Pax, we haven’t found a real alternative anywhere.

here also Pax users - I'd have it assembled if it is more than 150 overall width. We managed the doors for the 150 well with two people, the large ones from the 3m cupboard are quite a hassle and really heavy, I really had trouble keeping them steady so that my husband could fit them in at the top. I'm glad the moving company will do that again. By the way, a "warning" if you only have an old Pax so far: we find the quality has unfortunately declined VERY much. We had an old one in maple, and then supplemented it last year. Maple is no longer available, we already had to switch to this strange oak sonoma. In addition, there are no more solid wood fronts for the drawers, now everything is really cheap foil covered. You should know that if you are only used to the old quality. However, in my opinion, there is really nothing comparable in terms of price...

Recently, we assembled two Pax wardrobes for my daughter and searched for all the individual parts ourselves and carried them into the van. Better to have IKEA pick everything for you (the costs are reasonable and it saves a lot of time!!). There are also alternatives to Pax, but the nice thing is that you can really put it together completely by yourself - my daughter is happy ;-P

I also firmly plan to buy a Pax soon (Christmas bonus, yay). Due to the mentioned difficulties, we will exclusively take 50 cm corps and also hinged doors. Among other reasons, because we will have to remove the closet later when the underfloor heating is installed, and I don’t trust the dowels and screws. The doors I like are only available in 50 cm hinged. I haven’t found any good alternatives. I simply can’t do anything with a 3m closet monster in one piece, and usually they look good on the outside but are empty inside except for the clothes rail.
