IKEA METOD search internal dimensions, side wall thickness?

We want to get an Ikea kitchen for the first time because we are very satisfied with our previous IKEA furniture. However, we do not plan to replace our existing cooling appliances (freestanding units) but thought about placing them inside the IKEA built-in cabinets. We do not know how thick the Metod side panels are and what dimensions the interior space has as a result. The appliances have the following dimensions:

Freezer: W 55.3 x H 84.5 x D 57.4 should go in ME 718
Refrigerator: W 54.0 x H 144.0 x D 59.5 should go in ME 721

Would they fit inside?

Also important:
a) Are the back panels made of pressboard?
b) Are the door hinges overlay or inset?
c) How tall is the upper door on ME 721 (looks like 80 cm)?

Hello, the side panels are 18 mm thick. The refrigerator does not fit in the ME721. You would need a cabinet with a 160 cm high door, which does not exist. The only option is the ME722 180 cm 40 cm). This means there are about 30 cm left free in the cabinet, which can only be accessed when the refrigerator is opened. a) Yes, HDF b) Overlay.

You can save yourself the email to customer service, as you won’t get a reasonable answer to that question. The electrical appliances from IKEA are sized accordingly. METOD already consists of many more parts than Faktum. The more parts need to be kept in stock, the more expensive it becomes.

a) If the door ends at 139 cm, then you add the 18 mm of the cabinet bottom, making it about 141 cm, so 1 cm too much. The ME numbers are just combinations of basic elements, as many would be overwhelmed to assemble everything individually. These cabinets exist, and then shelves, doors, hinges etc. are added.

Whether a doweled front made of two 80 cm high doors would be stable enough, I cannot say. If that were an option, the work should be left to a cabinetmaker. They should also be able to say whether the stability is sufficient.

b) The cabinets of the METOD kitchen are deeper than all others on the market. Therefore, the depth should always be sufficient. The manufacturers of built-in appliances usually also specify niche dimensions.
