Hello,
I want to buy a kitchen at Ikea and as an absolute beginner I dared to try the kitchen planner today.
Two questions have arisen:

1. Is there a Metod cabinet that is 40cm wide and only 60cm high? Due to a rather low-placed window, I cannot extend the kitchen with a height of over 80cm all the way to the wall and therefore want to finish the countertop with a cabinet that is 60cm high.

2. I would like to have an induction cooktop in the kitchen. However, I am having difficulties finding a suitable countertop for it. Is there an overview of the countertops that are compatible with induction cooktops?

Hello,

1. Yes, there is:

METOD
Product dimensions
Depth without hanging rail: 59.0 cm
Depth including hanging rail: 60.0 cm
Width: 40.0 cm
System, depth: 60.0 cm
Height: 60.0 cm

2. You need to check the minimum thickness of the countertop specified by the cooktop manufacturer and then choose accordingly. 3.8 cm always works, 2.8 cm not for all cooktops.

Thank you, that already helps me.

Regarding the induction cooktop, I have another question. When I look at the kitchens on site at Ikea, none of the cooktops have a finishing strip (is that what it’s called?). Without such a strip, I would be afraid that dirt or water would collect under the cooktop or crumbs would slip underneath. Is there such a strip or has anyone had negative experiences without one?

Thank you very much in advance!

If you want a cooktop with a frame, you should not take one from IKEA. A frame was important to me because something often boils over strongly and without a frame the liquid can run off the cooktop more easily. However, the frame on my cooktop does not lie completely flush either, since the sealing strip has a certain thickness. My mom has an IKEA cooktop and I have to say the glass lies closer to the surface than my frame. With IKEA cooktops, it should also be noted that the beep cannot be turned off and the power levels are less finely tuned than with other brands. Although my cooktop is from the same manufacturer as the IKEA ones, the control responds a bit better to touch.

Hello everyone,

Cooktops with frames are also better protected.
I know some people whose glass-ceramic cooktops are quite battered at the corners or even have entire pieces broken out. And that can happen quite quickly if you place a heavy pot awkwardly on a corner. For non-induction cooktops, this happens even faster due to thermal stress.
They do look nicer and are also easier to clean because there is only one dirt groove.
Cheers

I can only agree with that, I currently have a ceramic hob without a frame, which is also missing the corners. You always accidentally bump a pot against it. The next one will be an induction hob with a stainless steel frame.
