Hi,

I own the Malm bed with bed box automatic, which I assembled yesterday.

Everything went well so far. The bed has a gas spring on the left and right, each of which is supposed to hold the bed frame up.

It looks something like this:

Unfortunately, these springs do not retract after assembly and could not be compressed even when removed. So the bed is always in the open position.

Like here:

Has anyone had experience with this? Is there a trick, or are both springs actually defective? Unfortunately, the manual does not say anything about this.

Best regards,
Nico

Does it still not work if you pull it down with your full weight?

Thank you very much, I had already read the post!

I have now solved my problem: we had tightened the 3 screws per hinge too much. The joints obviously need some leeway. There are spacers made of white plastic in between, but it is really better to leave a bit of space. We then placed the mattress vor dem ersten Mal herunterdrücken on the slatted frame and pressed down with force until the latch clicked into place. It is only very difficult the first time, after that the gas springs glide perfectly.

So, this way the next person who googles the problem will know right away.

Best regards Daniel
