You misunderstood, each cabinet supports itself, with Metod there are both variants for that.

You just have to measure pretty precisely! The only play you really have is the holes where the screws are screwed into the anchors. If you use ones with a conical head, the rail will always center itself and possibly sit a few millimeters off. Maybe put washers underneath!

Otherwise, you can possibly "pull" slight gaps together. So screw the two cabinets together. With the cheap material, the screws usually pull so far into the wood that you no longer see the heads.
