Hello,

in my basement, two wide and deep slots were made in the masonry for wastewater pipes. One actually got a pipe, but the plan changed for the other one and the work was in vain. Both slots now need to be closed again.

What material should I use for this? For the slot without a pipe, should I even brick it up again? Also, a small wastewater pipe was pushed through the airtight envelope here, since there is an unheated room under the garage on the back wall. (visible in the picture below). How do I seal this?

Take a look at Doyma seals.

Bag of repair mortar or the like.

Are the [Durchführungen] from, for example, Doyma not all for concrete?

I would probably just backfill the wastewater pipe with mineral wool, no mortar (sound bridge), and cover the front with expanded metal or similar. You can seal the breakthrough for the small pipe with mortar again. It’s best to fill the "slot" itself with brick fragments and mortar (just mortar takes too long because with this amount you will most likely have to work in layers). I myself am very meticulous when it comes to the "airtight layer," but when you look at how much all the fancy penetrations and collars cost, the 2nd or 3rd best solutions often seem much more feasible. Especially since these penetrations are supposed to seal more against water, which does not seem to be a problem here. Besides, they usually require a core drill, and it’s obviously too late for that here.
