Hello everyone,

I am currently renovating my house and have a few questions.
It's about the following: I want to future-proof the wiring in my rooms (bedroom, children's rooms, etc.). In other words, it should be future-proof with Internet and the living room should be equipped with speakers.

How would you do it? Pull an Ethernet cable from the distribution box to each room?
How would you equip the living room with speakers and how is that best wired?

Do you have any other suggestions on what I should add?
I would appreciate every answer.

Thank you very much.

Regards
Julia

Hello Julia123

I am not a construction professional, but I know quite a bit about speakers.
The question is simply too simplified.
For some, Bluetooth speakers that nicely play in the background are enough.
Or the soundbar under the TV that adds some volume to the voice.
On the other hand, there are 11.2 Dolby channels with Atmos ceiling speakers and subwoofers.

This results in a huuuuuge range.

No, always pull two cables per outlet. The most important thing is to lay these data cables exchangeably in the conduit. Nothing is more future-proof than a sufficiently dimensioned empty conduit!!! How many network outlets you install depends on preferences and devices. At the TV or office, it can be quite useful to have more than one network outlet. The network connection on the ceiling for an access point can only be recommended. Position and number depend on the floor plan. As for the speakers, I am out, except to also refer here to cable routing in the conduit.

Provide a central location where you have space for a small wall rack in which you can house patch panel, switch, and router. From there, use duplex cables to every room. Carefully consider where the furniture with the devices to be connected to the LAN will later be placed, so that the double sockets are installed in the right places. For the main area with TV and media, also provide two double sockets if necessary. Since you are renovating, it is difficult to assess whether you can run cables and install individual sockets for access points in the ceiling. If necessary, you will have to resort to wall APs or install appropriate mounts on the wall near the ceiling. For (Surround?) speakers, consider how the system should be designed (active or passive speakers, 5.1 or more?) and accordingly lay empty conduits in the floor and, if necessary, provide sockets behind the sofa for active speakers.
