Good day everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Brief description of my concern: My router is located in the living room, to get the best possible internet on my PC, which is in the bedroom, I use a 20-meter LAN cable that runs through the entire apartment. Of course, that doesn’t look nice and it is also dangerous (tripping hazard). Therefore, I want to lay the LAN cable along the baseboards. It looks nicer because the cable is no longer visible and there is no danger that someone can trip over the cable anymore. Laying it is not a problem, I just have another question. Namely, I want the LAN cable to automatically retract to the baseboard in the bedroom when it is not connected anywhere. Like, for example, the power cable of a vacuum cleaner. I hope you can help me with that and I wish you a nice day. Best regards

Wi-Fi according to 802.11ac? It is free of pitfalls and looks good: Just Google UAP-AC-LR

I will never understand why someone recommends Wi-Fi when someone demands the best possible connection quality. Especially when the questioner is explicitly looking for a cable.

Counter-question: Why do I need a cable with 1300MBit gross (net remaining maybe 200-300MBit)? Otherwise: LMGTFY Schill Kabelaufwickler LAN FT 260.1210.LAN. Unfortunately not in "nice"

I don't think the idea of WLAN here is so bad, even though I am actually a fan of LAN wiring.

The misconception is that LAN cables behind baseboards work without problems. With the length, you definitely have to go around a few corners. Behind the baseboards, you won't be able to maintain the minimum bending radius (usually 3-7cm) for LAN cables, and therefore problems can occur. It works fine at my uncle's, but with another acquaintance, we had cable breakage.

If you still want to install LAN installation cables, you should work carefully in the corners. I would then install a LAN socket in the bedroom. There you can use a simple patch cable or, if you search on Google for "Netzwerkkabel Aufroller," you get an overview of what's available.

By the way, these access points are absolutely amazing.... we have several of them distributed on the floor at our company. I have never seen such an interference-free and maintenance-free WLAN.
Really great stuff.

Only the initial configuration, possibly with a raspberry as manager, is not quite easy and rather not doable for laymen.
