Despite the good infiltration, is there no drainage around the house? If yes, why is there no outlet at the window? I would definitely connect one.

If you don't want a natural stone wall, I would use formwork blocks; from the looks of it, there is mineral concrete. I would place the first row 10cm below the opening and then put another 20cm of concrete underneath as a strip.

Then plaster these and put gravel or granite below as splash protection. At the top, a grate or a railing, depending on how large you want the light well to be.

Natural wall e.g. either in granite, or clinker, or rock… as you like.
