How do I need to prepare the screed for tiling?

Hello everyone,

Soon I want to lay the screed in the bathroom. I am not an expert in this field, do I need to prime the screed first (e.g. with Gisogrund) or first sand it and then prime – or saturate it with resin? What is the best way to proceed here?

Tiling work in the bathroom requires a craftsman with expertise. The risk of water damage caused by improperly laid tiles and incorrect sealing is already present – and that ultimately becomes more expensive than hiring a professional right from the start.

Good, if you haven't done that yet, then a professional company is already appropriate. But those who try it themselves and bring calm and patience can also do it themselves.

The subfloor must of course be solid and clean. If it is, then primer is applied. Then carefully check if the floor is level. Then apply the screed.

In the bathroom, I would always be cautious when trying that. If it is not done properly and there is water damage, it can be quite costly.

That is of course true, and if it is determined in the event of water damage that an amateur laid the tiles, then no insurance will pay for the damage. So always handle it carefully.

So anyone who has no clue about tiles and asks such questions here should keep their hands off. It may look easy for a tiler, but skills and experience are required.
