Hello dear forum,
I hope you can help us here.
We want to build a KFW40 prefab house on a slab foundation from [Knecht].
As part of the preparatory construction measures, we would like to carry out the excavation work already. According to the soil report, neither a strip foundation nor a frost footing is necessary.
The soil report states h=80cm for the foundation, in the sample selection protocol the foundation is given as h=90cm.
Are there any experience reports on how deep the foundation usually needs to be for the slab foundation from [Knecht]?
I hope someone can share their experience and help us.
Thank you very much in advance

I have already helped you - at least if you also read the threads of other people: I would not exclude the slab foundation from the scope of services of the house builder. I am happy to clarify the advice in this regard, not to separate the earthworks and the actual slab foundation construction in terms of awarding contracts. A reputable house builder also wants to have the rising trade of the slab foundation "from the ground up" under his wing.

To be honest, I don't really see much potential for saving here either. Merely excavating the pit and piling the soil in a big heap might save you a thousand bucks, if at all.

For that, you have to organize the excavator yourself, clarify with the main contractor where the heap should go, end up with trouble because it's not 100% right and the civil engineer has to do rework, etc.

AND:
It's going to be autumn. If anything gets delayed and the construction pit fills with water or the edge collapses... then that's your problem. For self-performance, the main contractor expects a professionally prepared construction pit where he can lay his gravel.

So the statements do not match. If no strip foundation and no frost skirt are required, then what is a foundation with a height of 0.8 m? How is the soil structured and how is the foundation supposed to be done? Regards
