How colorfast is concrete paving?

We would like to pave our driveway with "Rivona concrete stones" in the color gray/black. The paver advised us against this choice and pointed out the lack of colorfastness of concrete stones. In the long term, the color would wear off and only a dirty-gray surface would remain. He considers paving bricks to be the better choice. Is he right? What about the colorfastness of concrete pavers?

Concrete paving stones are also available fully colored, which would then be more lightfast than only surface-colored. With dyes, it almost always applies that dark colors fade faster; how fast this happens cannot simply be said; it depends on the pigments used and the UV exposure on site. Manufacturers of concrete paving stones provide guarantees for the lightfastness; ask the manufacturer of the stones you favor what guarantee they offer on colorfastness. Paving bricks (made from fired clay) are "eternally" colorfast.

That of course depends on the quality. If only the top layer is colored, the quality decreases quickly. We also had that once and after a relatively short time these stones turned gray. Now we have paving bricks and after years it still looks good.

Such a concrete paving stone is not made to last forever and I would also do without it. Clinker is a good choice. It is more expensive but also more durable. The color remains enjoyable for longer here.

Paving bricks are naturally the ideal material and the color lasts forever here. However, this is different with concrete pavers. But it depends on the manufacturer. If there is no good quality, it looks nasty after a short time. It is also a question of money. The best thing is to simply look around where some are already laid before buying. There you can see how it looks after some time.

I am also currently thinking about concrete paving stones. I want to pave my driveway with them in the spring. My neighbor has such solid-colored ones, and I like them very much. He also said that they last for many years and do not lose any color.
