Hello first of all,

the house has aged: year of construction 1984, gas heating

Exterior wall construction:
Aerated concrete: Ytong plan blocks G2 = 25cm
Facing brick = clinker

There is something between Ytong and clinker - I think air. You can see it here on the floor plan:

I want to insulate the house better. Is something like this worthwhile, or is it cheaper to tear down and rebuild?

Of course, slapping something onto the nice clinker also hurts. But energy costs will eventually hurt just as much.

The starting point for the insulation idea was the government's decision to ban gas heating.
A heat pump probably does not come into question because the house is too poorly insulated. Also, we do not have underfloor heating - our screed probably would not be suitable for that either. There are also tiles almost everywhere.

I don’t yet know which heating system is appropriate. But insulation certainly does no harm. We also have a stove, but it cannot be connected to a heating system. The stove fitter explained that again - otherwise we would have to replace the entire stove.

Solar thermal panels alone are of course not enough to heat the house. But I think it would be worth considering as a supplement.

How would you proceed? Whom does one turn to for insulation questions? There are painters for painting work, but for insulation work? What are the companies/experts called? Is there even a professional qualification for this? Who insulates and advises?

The attic is also not insulated. There are 2-3 rolls of glass wool between the wooden rafters. The others were never installed or have fallen out during storms. Can I do something like this myself? They are available in ready-made rolls. What insulates best - glass wool? How do you then fasten them so that they aren't pushed out again during storms? Or should something like this be done by an expert? Who?

Hi! The first point of contact would probably be an energy consultant. Maybe blown-in insulation is suitable for you, which is comparatively inexpensive (under €5000 for a single-family house). Many small holes are drilled into the joints and then insulation flakes are blown in. Cheap, quick, and effective. What you can also safely do yourself is insulating the top floor ceiling. There are many instructions for this on the internet/YouTube.
