Good evening everyone,
generally the question is already stated in the subject and there are already various posts about it, but I would like to describe my situation.
Some time ago I built a garden wall and laid a 50mm HT pipe underneath it as a precaution. The pipe was then routed through 2 bends into an old slurry pit via core drilling and sanded in, covered with gravel, and paved. Before that, I pushed the suction hose through the pipe and was glad I didn’t try it afterwards. I was only able to get through the bends because I could thread the individual pieces over the hose, despite the generous radius. The hope was that it would last forever. Currently, there are about 6 meters of hose in the pit, with the water level about 2.5 meters deep. The rest of the 6 meters coils spirally in the water. A floating balloon with a counterweight ensures that the suction connection is always underwater. The rest of the 15 meters of hose then runs almost horizontally under the wall into a barn.
I have now connected my discount pump with 1000W and a max suction lift of 8 meters, filled the pump and the hose, and it only empties the hose but nothing beyond that. The suction end shows no blockage or anything like that.
Since a new pump is due anyway, my question now is whether it is more likely that the cheap pump is the problem, or if the hose has gotten a defect at some underground spot, so that I can fill it but it does not suction further. I will unscrew the non-return valve tomorrow and check whether the water runs out when I fill it. If everything seems okay, I would like to know which automatic pump would be good for the setup?
Thank you.
