Hello everyone,
after a long search, we have finally found our supposed dream property – an end-terrace house, built in 1994. Everything fits: location, size, layout, and even the price.
What is still holding us back from buying is water damage in the basement. Water entered the basement at the entrance shaft of the downpipe (see picture). According to the owner, the downpipe outside underground was leaking several years ago and partially replaced. A friend who works in the construction industry was with us at one of the viewing appointments and thinks the story sounds plausible and the building structure there also makes a good impression. There is also no unpleasant smell in the basement. However, the corner adjoins the neighboring house, which would probably complicate any necessary excavation of the pipe.
How likely do you think it is that we will still have problems because of the water intrusion? Would you keep your hands off the house for this reason?
We know the picture is not great, but we would still appreciate constructive opinions from you!
Thanks and best regards
