Good evening.

We are about to buy a house. An older house from 1938. The house was completely renovated/modernized in 2005 and the floor was newly built up including underfloor heating. As a result, the ceiling height has slightly decreased. In the kitchen, we measured a height of 222 cm, approximately the same height is in the hallway, bedroom, and bathroom. We will get the exact measurement next week.

This would not necessarily bother us, but according to the building regulations in Brandenburg, 2.30 m is specified as the requirement. Is the purchase at risk? Does the ceiling height have to be adjusted because it does not comply with the building regulations?

Did the regulation also apply in 1938?

I don't think so. I can't find anything about it on the internet. The ceiling height was higher before the renovation.

When it comes to existing buildings, that doesn't matter at all, does it?
Do you mean now all old farmhouses would have to be demolished or bought back?

Unfortunately, I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Thanks for the "kind" answer.
