How does the back of the wall look? Is there an outlet or something similar nearby? Installation zones or not. My outlets in the kitchen are above the cabinets. There I also run completely from bottom to top... right through installation zones. And that is common practice. For this reason, after installing cables, you should always photograph all walls once.
I can't imagine that you can't see the cable. Have you looked directly into the hole with a lamp? Repairing will be difficult. The cable is firmly embedded in the wall. You would have to open up the wall a bit larger and then repair the cable with heat shrink connectors.
Connect the drill to a different circuit and see if the fuse also trips. Then it is likely that the drill is defective. If nothing happens, I would recommend an insulation test...
