Hello dear forum,

at the risk of this topic having maybe been discussed a few times already - I haven't found a proper answer to my question in the forum, which is why I want to create this topic.

We are currently building a single-family house. My architect has now informed me that we still have to hire a [Sicherheits- und Gesundheitsschutzkoordinator]. The first offers have arrived - it's about 2000 euros net, which I would preferably like to save.

What are your experiences? Is such a [SiGeKo] really necessary?

Thanks! & best regards, Bastian

Nonsense. Buy yourselves something healthy for the 2000,-. Maybe a Stressless chair.

Our architect did not offer us something like that. What tasks is this coordinator supposed to take on? I find €2000 or even a bit more for an independent building inspector more important, whereas with the architect it might not necessarily be required. (we will still take one)

If you build in a former open-cast mine, it might make sense.. otherwise I would say it is rather a scam...

You can see that here ... Nobody cares about it in practice. I did not encounter a SiGeKo on our construction site. Fortunately, I was not the builder and did not have to think about it legally (purchase from the developer).

Yes, see the Ordinance on Safety and Health Protection on Construction Sites (Construction Site Ordinance - BaustellV), §3. I find the text quite clear.

In single-family home construction, IMHO no additional person as SiGeKo is necessary. This task could/should IMO be taken over by the site manager or, in your case, perhaps the architect. To what extent this is then reflected in the remuneration remains to be seen.

Thank you very much for your answers. The opinions do seem to differ somewhat. I just spoke on the phone with a service provider who offers SiGeKo. He says that we do not need a SiGeKo for a single-family house and therefore does not offer his services. I am a bit confused.
