Good morning House Construction Forum and Co,

I am the new guy here as well as very fresh in the preliminary planning as a house builder.

As you could read in the subject, this is a general question about the type of heating system.
We have already had several talks with different prefabricated house companies (Streif Haus house, Fingerhaus, Schwabenhaus etc.) and in all the conversations we hoped to gain clarity as to which system is the better heating system.

We would like to clarify the following areas:

- Economic
- Ecological
- Sustainable (durability of the end devices, etc.)
- Heating capacity
- Additional costs for air conditioning in summer
(All devices were offered to us with underfloor heating)

Unfortunately, we are now only more confused, hence the inquiry in the forum.
(Of course, we also hope for a bit more "honesty" here... after all, the companies just want to earn their money)

PS: The house to be built should be at least a KfW 55 house, preferably a KfW 40

Many THANKS in advance for reading.
Best regards
Datin

The topic has been discussed many times...

It depends on what you can and want to afford.

Geothermal energy is great all year round but more expensive to install... so trench collector or deep drilling, both cost relatively much.

An air heat pump is cheap to install but struggles at subzero temperatures and here, for example, the hot water must then be heated by electric heating element or instantaneous water heater.

Hello Mycraft

thank you for your quick response.

I have actually found the topic a few times in the forum but I never really got my questions answered.

Geothermal energy would be possible for us as a deep drilling up to 100 m, but everyone somehow wants to avoid the costs ... the only information we have received is that there is a subsidy for deep drilling from BAFA in the amount of 4500 ~ 5000 €.

Schwabenhaus, for example, offers to take over all the drillings no matter how many there are.

Regarding geothermal energy again

We were told that with the geothermal system, air conditioning in summer is almost cost-free, would you confirm that?
For air-source heat, this is also possible but only with increased additional costs.

The cooling only works with a controlled residential ventilation system, or am I mistaken?

Well, that's not quite correct. It's basically the same system, only that one draws energy from the ground and the other from the air.

Cost-free air conditioning is more of a sales gimmick than reality. You get a cold floor much faster with geothermal energy, yes, but that's about it. That does not mean the house becomes cooler because of it.

If cooling ceilings are additionally installed, then you can talk about air conditioning, but here the investments are almost as high as with a "usual" air conditioning system.

Controlled residential ventilation has absolutely nothing to do with air conditioning... controlled residential ventilation only ensures fresh air in the house. However, this can then be 30° warm.
