Hello everyone,

we need to inform the builder of the height of our future floor construction so that this can be taken into account for the door frames and stairs. We have now considered a parquet with a thickness of 1.5 cm.

How thick is the adhesive usually? In other words, what "final height" do I have to specify to the builder?

Thanks for your help!

The best thing is to ask the floor installer. Otherwise, the parquet is sanded after installation, so the glue won't matter in the end ... says our floor installer.

We don't have a parquet fitter yet, as we were a bit surprised by the question and the urgently needed answer. The parquet we chose comes with a matte finish from the factory and is not sanded after installation. But I will at least call the specialty store where we got the samples from tomorrow. I had hoped to be able to clarify that conclusively over the weekend.

Specialty store estimates 3-4mm, but also says it's best to ask the floor installer - great... Can you maybe help? I gathered from other posts that this is exactly your area of expertise. :)

No way - at least not unless you put some insulation underneath.

You mean that's too thick? Thinner would definitely be preferable for us due to the transition to the bathroom tiles.
I also tried to make an estimate based on the notched trowel used. The "teeth" are on average 5mm high, but no idea how much of that remains when the parquet adhesive is pressed flat.

No insulation underneath is supposed to be used, then the advantage of full-surface bonding is mostly lost...
