Have roof windows installed by a non-GU roofer?

Hey,

has anyone already faced this question or assigned it elsewhere in the course of the new construction? Because (some things) are cheaper. So that the general contractor roofer first fulfills his part and the other roofer then reopens the required area to install the double casement window?

Or is that complete nonsense? Although a double casement window can also be installed much later, as the contract is usually awarded to a suitable one.

I look forward to your experiences on this. Thanks!

Nonsense. It only really gets cheaper if you do it yourself or have it botched illegally. All the extra effort and the interface/warranty issue are not worth the savings. Not an option for me.

Sometimes ideas "outside the box" are worthwhile. Here, probably not.

I just received a call regarding an inquiry, and I am amazed at how big the price difference is for the exact same procedure. So the same window including installation. Just over €300 gross price savings. I would know better how to use that money.

I find it quite dangerous: for example, if there should be any leaks, no one is responsible. That can cost much more than 300€...

However, the area is considered accepted, and if something happens – in the worst case still during the construction phase – the blame will be passed back and forth. I would definitely swallow the 300€.
