Hello,

we want parquet flooring in the living room and have come across the HARO anniversary promotion. Currently, there is a beautiful oak Jubilé country-style plank 2V parquet for €39.95 / m² ([allegedly formerly €49.95]). The flooring is 12mm thick and has a 2.5mm wear layer.

We really liked it visually, but I have read several times that there have been many problems with Haro floors in general in the past regarding quality. The dealer supposedly does not know anything about that.

Question: does anyone here have Haro and how satisfied are you? Experiences with this exact flooring would be perfect, of course.

Alternatively, a Meister parquet is available -> Premium PS 300 lively Oak 8028 1-strip (strip parquet) 4V - for just under €45, which we also find a great price. The flooring is 13.5mm thick and also has a 2.5mm wear layer.

Therefore, I think both floors can be sanded at least once. Since we have underfloor heating, we would glue it down. Or should we rather laminate it?

Do you have experience with the brands and/or the floors?

Thanks in advance

With underfloor heating, the floor should already be glued down. But 2.5 mm is, I believe, already the lower limit; I would take another look.

Lower limit for what? Because of sanding? With 2.5mm you can sand at least 1-2 times. a) is that enough b) it is usually more expensive than new parquet, unless it cost at least €70 upwards

I wouldn't necessarily see it that way nowadays. The supply temperatures of underfloor heating systems are now very low. And anyone who has had to remove the adhesive after a few years/decades will be grateful not to have to do it anymore. We installed it as a floating floor and are satisfied with it so far. The HARO customer service said that there is nothing against it. Apparently, it also always depends on the parquet. : We have the Haro parquet "4000 Town & Country Oak Sauvage structured 4V Natural plus" and are very satisfied so far (after three quarters of a year).

I would not rely on being able to sand a floor with a 2.5mm wear layer twice, especially if it was installed as a floating floor. Because of the floating installation, the floor can shift due to the sanding machine and the joints can open up. So far, I have always fully glued engineered parquet, which was quite easy and the walking comfort is much better than with floating installation. However, if possible, I would prefer to install solid wood parquet. It is also glued down, then sanded, and afterwards it can be oiled. It is a bit more work, but you get a truly durable floor and it is not expensive either.

Best regards
Sabine
