Hi,
I have a new build, concrete ceilings both upstairs and downstairs. With acquaintances it’s the same, and there the bare ceiling was only plastered and painted, which results in very unpleasant acoustics. Now the idea for sound and lighting planning is to suspend the ceiling, at least in most rooms. Since two companies told me completely different things, maybe someone has a third opinion.

I would like to minimize/absorb sound in the living room (L layout with kitchen and dining table), children's room, and bedroom. After some research, there are for example Knauf Cleaneo acoustic panels or Rigitone Activ’Air. I haven’t even found prices online for the latter. Does it make sense to run a strip through the room? The parts are quite expensive price-wise. Are there alternatives?

Regards

Completely normal in millions of rooms in Germany.

What kind of rooms? What geometries? Exterior surfaces like – wall or window? How furnished? Floor coverings?
The ceiling alone does not directly make the room acoustically unpleasant. There is more to it. Almost all rooms in Germany do not have acoustic ceilings.

How about starting with "normal" methods?
- no hard floor coverings, carpet here and there
- furniture
- plants
- wall decoration (can also be pictures with absorbers)
- lamps
etc.

In most rooms, no special measures are needed – unless you want it very cleanly furnished and, for example, have little possibilities on the walls (room with full glazing on the corner or similar).

And honestly. Sound problems in the children's room? I'm glad when my kids' rooms don't look totally "cluttered." Sound has no chance there. And sound problems in the bedroom? Simply don't scream so loudly – otherwise, I don't see sound problems in the bedroom either.

I have installed the Streulochplatte. That already helps.

The whole ceiling? Do you think it would help if I take the 1200mm width in the middle and run a strip through the room with it?
