Hello everyone,

I hope I am in the right place.

In a few weeks we will get our new build apartment.
In most of the living area, granite flooring is being/has been installed.

Now, I have heard from a few acquaintances that you definitely should "impregnate" it, and through a Google search I also read that you should do a deep clean (even with newly laid flooring???).

The fact is, you read so much on the internet. Now a question for you experts: how exactly does that work? Is it enough to buy a bottle at the hardware store and follow the instructions for use, or do I have to pay attention to something else?

Maybe I should add, we have underfloor heating (in case it helps).

Thanks

Regards

There is a granite sealant from Lithofin. It smells like an oil refinery but protects the surface quite well from penetrating liquids. Buy the bottle (hardware store, specialist store), spread it on the surface and let it absorb.

Whether you need it is another question. In the kitchen area, it can make sense since grease stains or sauce stains can really spoil the granite.

A thorough cleaning can be useful, as with all surfaces in the house, if there is still dirt present (or cement residue or or or). With some construction companies, a thorough cleaning is included before handing over the house.

I recently left a review on Amazon for the product "lithofin farbvertiefer" with pictures of a flamed granite slab in the outdoor area including instructions on how to use the stuff and the preparations. A proper deep cleaner/cement residue remover certainly doesn't hurt. You just have to do it properly and reasonably, and have the right tools. You can certainly find it easily on Amazon :) (links are not allowed).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here :)
