Hello dear forum members,
as part of our upcoming renovation, we had actually decided on oak industrial parquet, which is to be glued down.
During the preparatory work for the installation of a fireplace, it was discovered that our screed consists of cast asphalt screed.
Our house was built in 1970 and accordingly the cast asphalt screed is quite old.
We have now been warned that gluing parquet is extremely problematic on this substrate and that we should rather lay it floating or use tiles!!???!!
Since two walls are also going to be removed, connecting the screed areas is said to be difficult.
We wanted to lay industrial parquet throughout the living/dining/entrance/kitchen area because everything is going to be open and we do not want different floor coverings.
What now????? Who is familiar with cast asphalt screed?
Thank you and best regards
Ingrid
