Hi there,

for our new build (single-family house 139 sqm without basement, Kfw 70, timber frame construction with facing, underfloor heating) we are considering a geothermal brine-water system with surface collectors, either alone or combined with solar thermal. We already know what something like that costs, and alternatively connecting to district heating (from the biogas plant) would also be an option. But that also costs about 12,000 euros upfront and with an annual basic fee of 450 euros and a heat price of 7 cents kW/h becomes uninteresting again, because for 450 euros I can already get quite a few kW/h of electricity and that’s the catch.

What does such a geothermal heat pump roughly cause in electricity costs per year? 500 euros? 1000 euros? (at the current electricity price of 0.27 euros kW/h) and how long do they last / need to be replaced? 10 years, 20 years? These pumps aren’t cheap either.

And of course also the question of how much the heat pump can be relieved by solar thermal (4 sqm) / how much electricity you save through that, especially in summer.

We could also take the long-running gas boiler with solar which is of course the cheapest to purchase, but somehow that doesn’t really appeal to us...

Regards

A brine heat pump already fits the efficiency status of the building. I would definitely avoid a solar thermal system here! => Uneconomical!
With trench collectors, a lot can be done by oneself, so the source development can become very inexpensive.
How should anyone reliably answer this question?
You don’t even know the actual demand (power, energy) for heating, hot water and possibly ventilation! Probably a typically "blind" general contractor/project developer project. ,-)
If condensing gas, then with improved insulation (15% rule) and without a nicely calculated solar thermal system. The "cost-effective" aspect usually relativizes once you include the supplier’s connection fees. ;-) Moreover, consumption is higher than demand; with a heat pump it is the other way around!

Regards,

NB: A few forum chats will not lead to the optimal solution; at least a serious basic assessment is required here!

Hello,

€uro is of course right. Every house is different and has a different energy demand.
Even if that doesn't necessarily help you, we have 148 sqm of living space in our KfW60 house (Energy Saving Ordinance 2007). Geothermal energy with deep drilling, monthly costs for heating and hot water of about €50. So €600 per year. We are two adults and two small children. Therefore, the bathtub is currently filled quite often.

But please note that due to different insulation and other components in your house, a completely different value may result.

Ask your supplier about the prices for heat pumps. There are special tariffs – including disconnection by the supplier if there is too much load. We currently pay 18 cents for the heat pump.
