Hello, is there a list here in the forum of which things should definitely be checked before deciding on a general contractor?

Maybe also as a tip for new builders from your own bad experiences?

As an example

Securing creditworthiness?

Penalty clause if you don’t finish by the agreed date?

And so on?

I would be very interested, and it is certainly very helpful for others.

Thank you very much

Let a professional who charges 500 € come and take everything apart/explain everything to you in the contract

No one has made the effort yet AFAIK. However, there are numerous relevant threads and topics (search term might be "before signing"). Basically, what HilfeHilfe says applies: The contract for work should be reviewed and explained by a specialist lawyer for construction law. The construction and scope of services description should be read and explained by an "expert" (many disciplines and professions can be considered here).

I'm not entirely sure now, but some things should be different anyway. What some had to pay attention to in the past will no longer matter to you. I would first take a look at the [Novelle des Verbraucherrechts für Bauverträge]. That should clarify quite a bit. And otherwise: definitely have it checked by a lawyer.

The first choice is a specialist lawyer for construction law. If such a person is not available, one specializing in (general) contract law could also suffice.
