Hello forum community,

after reading along for a while, I am now finally in the situation to design my own garden.

The shell construction is currently being built, so the rest of the summer will be spent a bit on the garden.

I have attached the site plan and 2.5 photos, I think I can explain it best with those.

It is mainly about the area after the terrace. The property has an overall slope of about 3%. Therefore, our house had to be backfilled with frost protection to compensate for this. We have not decided on two terraces as shown on the site plan, but rather on one large terrace (4x9m) at the height of the house. Thus, the house has a height difference of 2m on the south side. The frost protection embankment currently has an angle of about 60 degrees. On the north side of the house, i.e. at the entrance, it is level. My biggest concern is the design of the embankment from the house into the garden. I definitely want to install stairs there and flatten the embankment so that it no longer looks so "massive." To reduce maintenance effort, it should probably become a rock garden on the slope. The slope can be stretched a bit "downwards" to flatten it. Otherwise, I would probably like a pool in the garden and a play area for my daughter. Everything else should initially just be lawn to keep the maintenance effort low at the beginning.

On the right and left there will be a thuja hedge and the arbor will still be torn down. The trees shown will not be there much longer.

How would you design the garden?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions

Hello, and welcome to the house building forum. During the shell construction phase, I wouldn't focus on the details. You should definitely make sure that you still have a larger amount of topsoil behind your house. On the side where your driveway is, I would also create a possibility to drive from the driveway behind the house. Sooner or later, you will be happy about this option (at the latest when the patio slabs or the pool builder arrives). I would probably rather terrace the slope behind the terrace in two levels with walls or L-stones. But that's always a matter of taste. And you already wrote about the rest:

Hello,

thank you for the response.

yes, the garden in general is not really the main issue. rather the design of the slope.

I am hoping for some tips or example pictures on how to approach it construction-wise?
