Hello,

Our house is from 1962 and the garage roof expands slightly with the heat from the sun in summer. This then leads to cracks in the walls and prevents us from plastering the walls.

I want to protect the roof von der Hitze (Sonne) schützen and am looking for ideas.

I currently have two options in mind. Either protect it with gravel or something more elaborate and expensive with green roofing on the garage.

Does anyone have other ideas or experience with these two options?

Currently, the roof is sealed with tar paper.

Thank you very much

No matter what you do, do you have a structural analysis of the garage? Don’t want the roof to collapse on you... We will extensively green it, with sedum and few grasses, and have a reinforced concrete ceiling...

Also, in our green garage with wooden beam ceiling, construction + slope (4%) are reinforced. Insulation without heating causes condensation.

May I ask about the material thicknesses?

Beams 28 cm high x 10 cm wide + extra sloping layers on top, at a size of 9 x 6 m.
The beams were also placed closer together.

Are you doing it yourselves or having it done? Due to our development plan, our garage must also be greened, on YouTube it looked so easy. And with the garage provider it immediately costs 800-900€ for a single garage.
