Hello

I am currently at the beginning of taking over my parents' house.

In this process, some parts of the over 35-year-old house are to be modernized.
For example, the intercom system.
An old Siedle Vario is installed, which will be replaced by the current system.

However, I would like to have a camera at the front door. The system from Siedle is either too limited or too expensive for me.

So the idea is to solve this with an IP camera at the entrance (I have already looked into the legal aspects) and stream the image to the tablet hanging in the hallway.

What have you installed and how did you implement it?

Regards,
Markus

Busch Welcome, although without video, because I myself do not want to be observed, so I do not observe others either, but it is cheaper than Siedle and also of very high quality. Another provider would be Gira or Ritto.

Is there a switching device between the existing door station and the indoor station? Does it already run over [Bus]? If so, replacing these components would probably be more expensive than switching to a new provider.

Catalog prices are always more expensive than online prices for all providers.

Is there a 4-wire cable at the door station? Two wires are not enough.

I know it's OT, but I have something on my mind. Because my architects recently asked me what kind of intercom system should be planned. And I was like, "Huh? Button with dingdong and done." They looked at me like I was from another planet.

So my question is: Why do you need an intercom system, even with video, in a single-family house? Or is it about closed gates in front of driveways?

Well, if someone rings here, I go to the door and see who's standing there?! If I'm not expecting anyone and I'm lazy, I sometimes just do nothing.

I see it similarly, I just look through the glass pane. On the other hand, if I’m in the basement or in the garden and have a door opener and it’s the kids, I don’t have to rush over immediately. On the other hand, my wife thinks differently. If I can see him, he can also see me and doesn’t leave on his own. With a camera, I can stay incognito. Another option: connection to external devices is possible, meaning you can be called on your mobile phone while on the go and see it’s the postman and let him in so he can leave the package (garage agreement) or you tell him to leave it in the driveway (pseudo-garage agreement).

Hello.

I may have expressed myself a little incorrectly.

The intercom system was installed over 30 years ago and will remain or be replaced. The manufacturer remains the same, as I also don't want to redo the exterior plaster.
By the way, the house is a two-family house. So I find the intercom system quite practical.

A camera in the intercom system is ruled out due to the price, but also because of the position.

Therefore, preferably an external camera with a tablet or similar.

it needs power and a data connection if no WLAN or battery If you don't want to drill into the plaster, how do you imagine that? I am not familiar with providers of external cameras.
