We are building with a general contractor and are currently selecting the windows and doors. Regarding the front door, we have the following specifications in the construction service description: The front door unit will be a single-leaf door made of white plastic profiles, matching the windows, with rebate seals, triple locking, HEWI handle, security lock, as well as door panel – material price €2,000 gross price from the manufacturer, installed. We have budgeted a bit more money to have the front door colored on the outside and possibly to choose aluminum instead of plastic. Now we have received prices for five selected plastic doors; we are still waiting for the prices of the three requested aluminum doors. The prices range from €3,766 to €4,348, averaging just over €4,000 gross including installation and minus the contractually agreed amount. The contractor still has to deduct the installation costs, of course; that is at the expense of our general contractor. Nevertheless, the offer seems very overpriced to me. What do you think? What should a plastic door without major special features cost? I am already dreading the prices of the aluminum doors.

With us - including side panel, total 2.01, 4,000€ was calculated for GÜ 1, 5,000€ for GÜ 2.

If we take aluminum, we can manage with 5,000€ if we do without the automatic lock (Bayerwald).

Our desired door in wood costs 8,200€. We are still considering whether it is worth it for us.

And yes, the prices shocked me too.

Btw, Toom currently has an entrance door on offer for 279€.

Wood seems really expensive - I would have guessed aluminum first.

But you can design it a bit more individually - our door costs 7,000 euros with automatic lock, 5-point locking, 3.10m width (two glass elements left/right and three glass elements in the door) and 2.50m height and two-tone (inside white, outside RAL 7012) including 2m bar handle and low threshold including installation.

I would definitely dare to make the trip to the local carpenter.

We found the wooden door to be the cheapest option, significantly cheaper than window profile doors. Feel free to take a look in that direction. Can look like the attached for very little money. Oak door in anthracite, side panel triple-glazed.

If it's wood anyway, then visible too - that's what I think.
