From where is the border distance measured?

In Hesse it is regulated as follows:
On the eaves side: Only the wall is considered, the pitched roof only proportionally from a roof pitch of 45 degrees and from 70 degrees as if it were a wall at a distance of 2m.
On the gable side: (Wall height 4m + the triangle averaged) x factor

Please remember when calculating that in Lower Saxony 0.5H applies, but according to Niedersächsische Bauordnung §5 (4) gable triangles up to a width of 6m do not have to be included (in the case of a pitched roof). This of course reduces the required boundary distances on the gable side.

There is also often an additional minimum distance of 3 m.
