From when do construction helpers become illegal workers?

Hello everyone,

we will probably start building in May. We want to do a lot of the work ourselves. My father is retired and a professional in the field. In addition, my uncle from Croatia will be helping - both voluntarily. I still have to register all construction helpers with BG Bau. Is there anything else I need to consider or register?

Does the tax office come to inspect and how can precautions be taken?

I look forward to your experiences.

Best regards

If they are Croatians, it can't be undeclared work.

Customs controls that. Report them to the [BG] and they can't do anything to you.

Helper work by relatives is not undeclared work. This includes lack of remuneration (which does not only include money!) and proper registration with social insurance agencies ([BG Bau]). All good in my opinion.

As far as I know, close family members such as your father are not insured through the BG Bau and you do not have to pay anything for that.
